MONROE, La. (KNOE) Monroe is working on a "One-Stop-Shop" building to house multiple city departments.

City officials said this will save time and money.

The building is located at 1401 Stubbs Ave. in Monroe. According to Director of Administration Stacey Rowell, they're asking the city council to adopt a resolution to allow the "Land 3 Architects" firm to work on renovations for the building.

"Our whole idea of how we operate and function between those departments has to change in that we are going to be bringing these three areas in together," said Rowell.

"We have been meeting on the workflow a lot and that will be what drives the design of the building," she continued.

The departments included are: Engineering, Utilities, Tax and Revenue, Planning and Zoning, Code Enforcement, Inspections and Community Development divisions from the Planning and Urban Development Department.

Rowell said, if everything is approved, she hopes to have the departments moved into the building by late spring or early summer.
