MONROE, La. (KNOE) - Some homes and businesses in the city of Monroe will be without water for a short period overnight so crews can make some emergency repairs to the water system.
According to a city spokesperson, emergency repairs need to be made to a leaking 16-inch waterline located on the south side of U.S. Highway 165 near Power Church at the Forsythe Extension.
In order to make the repairs, the City of Monroe will have to cut the water off for about three hours overnight.
City of Monroe customers in the 165 North area between Forsythe Extension and CenturyLink will be affected. They will have low or no water pressure for about three hours.
The emergency repair work and the temporary shutdown of water service has been scheduled to take place starting October 15 at 11 p.m. through 2 a.m. Wednesday morning.
Once full water service has been restored, a precautionary boil order will be in effect. Officials say they expect the order to be lifted on Oct. 17, once water samples are tested.
