MONROE, La. (First Christian Church) - Hidden Treasures Alzheimer’s Respite Ministry, providing a safe and friendly day program for loved ones living with Alzheimer’s / Dementia.

Hidden Treasures is a State Licensed facility providing a wide variety of activities to enrich the lives of each participant. The program is designed to maintain the participant’s highest level of independence and well being, and to meet the needs of adults with diagnosis of Alzheimer’s and other forms of Dementia in Northeast Louisiana. The program also provides an economical alternative that enables families to remain together longer while extending independence and offering respite for the caregivers.

“Hidden Treasures Alzheimer’s Respite is a three-way winner for First Christian Church, “ says Pastor Craig Ferguson. “First, we unleash members to use their gifts and activate their passion in ministry. Second, we utilize our church facilities more fully during the week and create meaningful presence on the church site. And finally, we impact families struggling with a significant and ever-growing need in our community. We are excited to see how God uses this ministry.”

Janet Williams, a licensed social worker, and her daughter Jamie Williams, a licensed occupational therapist, share over 35 years experience in the healthcare field, caring for the elderly and those with Alzheimer’s / Dementia. After much prayer and consideration, the passion and commitment to develop a program of this type has grown into a reality.
