Monroe and Ouachita fire crews rescue trapped construction worker

MONROE, La. (KNOE) - Monroe and Ouachita rescue teams freed an injured construction worker stuck in hole Friday afternoon.

It happened around 2 p.m. off of Highway 165 near the Forsythe Bypass.

Officials say the construction worker was part of a crew adding pipes underground for the Monroe City Water System.

While working in a hole about 15 feet deep, the worker was hit by a pipe. Officials say he was injured couldn’t get out of the hole.

The Ouachita Parish Fire Department and the Monroe Fire Department arrived on the scene to perform the rescue.

Officials say the injured worker was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Officials did not specify the type of injury the worker sustained nor his condition.
