A Monroe Officer killed in a crash has been identified. Mayor Jamie Mayo and Eugene Ellis identified the officer as Ayrian Williams. A news conference will be held Tuesday morning for more details.

A Monroe Police officer is dead after crashing her patrol car into a tree on South 8th St. in Monroe.

Monroe Police say the crash happened around 7:00 p.m. on South 8th Street, off of Temple Rd. in south Monroe, when an officer crashed on her way to another call.

Sources say the officer lost control of the vehicle and hit a tree in a resident's front lawn.

Officials are waiting to release the officer's name until they notify next of kin.
