TALLULAH, La. (KNOE)- The renewal of two ad valorem taxes in Tallulah will be on the May ballot.

Thursday, the city council gave the green light to put the fate of the taxes in the hands of the voters. If approved, the existing taxes would be renewed for another 10-years.

The city council also approved a sales tax.

Last year, voters approved a one-half cent sales tax. The new tax is expected to generate $300,000 annually. Some of that money will be used to improve the city's water infrastructure.

The sales tax goes into effect in April.
