Update: Man hit and killed by car

A Monroe man died last night after trying to cross the road at a busy intersection.
Shortly after 9:00 p.m. on Thursday July 14, 2016, Troopers assigned to Louisiana State Police Troop F responded to a fatality crash on US Highway 165 at the intersection with Ticheli Rd.
The initial investigation revealed 57-year-old Tharris Bishop of Monroe, LA was driving a 1998 Ford Expedition north on US 165 when the vehicle struck 53-year-old Matthew Davis of Monroe, LA who was trying to cross the northbound lanes.
Davis was pronounced dead at the scene by the Ouachita Parish Coroner’s Office.
Routine toxicology samples were obtained and will be submitted for analysis. The crash remains under investigation.
In 2016, Troop F has investigated 23 fatal crashes resulting in 24 deaths.
A man died after being hit by a car near U.S. 165 and Ticheli Rd.
Louisiana State Police are working the crash and are not releasing the man's name until next of kin can be notified. They tell us he was crossing the highway from the Family Dollar store to Ticheli Rd when he was hit.
