Man accused of home invasion, attempted murder in Ouachita Parish

Authorities have arrested a man accused of a home invasion and attempted murder in Ouachita Parish.

According to court records, it happened May 8, 2020, in the 500 block of Lawson Street.

The Ouachita Parish Sheriff's Office says the suspect, identified as Charles Burns, entered a home and got into a fight with a male victim.

Records allege that the suspect also pushed a female victim against a wall, damaging the wall. He's accused of threatening both victims with a handgun. A shot was fired during the incident, the report says.

The female victim told authorities that the suspect also begged her to leave with him.

The suspect later located in the 300 block of Marion Sims Road. Authorities say he was found to be in possession of meth.

Burns was booked into the Ouachita Correctional Center on charges of drug possession, home invasion, attempted second-degree murder, and illegal possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
