Man accused of attempted murder in Monroe

MONROE, La. (KNOE) - Authorities have arrested a man accused of multiple charges, including kidnapping and attempted murder.

According to court records, Antonio Dean, 29, was the gunman in a shooting that happened on March 17, 2020, in the 300 block of Malvern Street in Monroe.

Monroe police say the victim was shot in the torso and ankle and had to be airlifted to Shreveport for treatment. Police say witnesses were able to identify Dean as the shooter.

Police say Dean also had outstanding warrants. They say Dean was involved in a robbery that happened on Breece Circle in September 2019. In October, West Monroe PD investigated a domestic incident on Branch Street which led to four charges against Dean, including a second-degree kidnapping charge.

Dean's total charges, with the outstanding warrants, are attempted second-degree murder, simple robbery, second-degree kidnapping, battery of a dating partner, domestic abuse battery, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and resisting an officer.
