Senate leaders in Michigan have called for the investigation into a state lawmaker who is accused of making misogynist comments to a female reporter.
Allison Donahue, 22, says she tried to interview State Sen. Pete Lucido (R) outside the Michigan Senate chamber on Tuesday about a Detriot Times story that he was part of a violent Facebook group.
Instead of responding to the issue, Donahue says Lucido referred to a group of high school boys from an all boys Catholic high school who were standing nearby.
He then said, “You should hang around! You could have a lot of fun with these boys, or they could have a lot of fun with you.”
Donahue says the boys burst into laughter.
Donahue says she tried to get an apology from Lucido before leaving, but it was not forthcoming. After the news broke, Lucido apologized on Twitter, calling the issue a "misunderstanding."
I apologize for the misunderstanding yesterday and for offending Allison Donahue.— Sen. Peter J. Lucido (@SenPeterJLucido) January 15, 2020
