Authorities say they've made a major drug bust in Natchitoches.
According to a spokesperson for the Natchitoches Multi-Jurisdictional Drug Task Force, agents arrested a man they believe was transporting large amounts of methamphetamine, marijuana, and promethazine to Natchitoches from Houston.
Agents say they stopped 54-year-old Daniel Efferson Jr. during one such transport on November 18th, 2018. They pulled him over on Highway 117 and searched his truck with the aid of a K-9, finding what they believe to be 4.5 pounds of meth, 2.1 pounds of high-grade marijuana, and about 2 gallons of Promethazine syrup. Promethazine is a sedative that's sometimes combined with codeine for enhanced effects.
According to authorities, Efferson faces the following charges:
Possession with Intent to Distribute CDS I Marijuana
Possession with Intent to Distribute CDS II Methamphetamine
