ST. TAMMANY PARISH, La. (KNOE) - With just two weeks to spare, a Louisiana couple has claimed a $1.8 million jackpot-winning ticket for the June 6th Louisiana Lottery Lotto drawing.

According to a spokesperson with the Louisiana Lottery, the Mandeville couple found the ticket while doing some holiday cleaning.

“We have family coming into town for Thanksgiving, so I was cleaning up the house and found a few Lottery tickets on my nightstand that we hadn’t checked,” Tina Ehrenberg said. Tina and her husband, Harold, had just days left to claim their prize - a prize which had to be claimed within 180 days of the drawing. “We kept checking the numbers again and again!” Harold explained. “Plus, I called the winning numbers hotline over and over,” Tina added.

The lottery spokesperson says the couple bought the ticket at International Market on Barron Street in Metairie. The store got a selling bonus of 1% of the prize. The winners received roughly $1.27 million after state and federal tax withholdings. They plan to put the money away for retirement.
