WINNFIELD, La. (KNOE) A Winnfield woman is in a hospital after what she says was police brutality by a Winnfield officer.

Tanisha White suffered broken bones in her face and a black eye, and she is now at a Shreveport hospital getting treatment.

"I was in extreme shock," said Tramika Coleman, White's sister, talking about when she got the call Monday evening about the incident.

According to Coleman, her sister was allegedly beaten up by a Winnfield Police officer.

"To my understanding, she was at a friend's house and somehow the police got called."

Coleman even says the officer told her that her sister was trying to resist arrest.

"The information that the officer had given me was that she fell and hit her face on the concrete," Coleman said.

As for the eye injury, White told Coleman the officer tased her. White was taken to the Winn Parish Medical Center right after the incident. From there, Coleman couldn’t believe the extent of her sister’s injuries.

"It just hurt my heart so much seeing her lay there when I walked in the hospital and I see her laying there. She looked like she was in so much pain."

According to Coleman, her sister has lost vision in her right eye from the incident.

Louisiana State Police have taken over the investigation per the Winnfield Police’s request. The investigation is ongoing and no further information could be provided.
