Louisiana, Mississippi abortion cases to be heard by Supreme Court

(KNOE) - The U.S. Supreme Court will start hearing abortion cases Tuesday, including one in Louisiana.

The court delayed the June Medical Services, LLC v. Gee case from taking effect earlier this month. It involves a 2014 law that requires doctors at abortion clinics to have admitting privileges at nearby hospitals.

Opponents say the law burdens a woman's access to abortion.

The justices will also hear a Mississippi abortion law that involves a challenge to a law that bans abortion after 15 weeks of pregnancy. A judge blocked it in November, and the state is appealing.
