MOREHOUSE PARISH, La. (KNOE) - A Bastrop man is accused of setting fire to a house while four people were inside.
According to the Louisiana Office of State Fire Marshal (LOSFM), it happened in the early morning hours of January 8, 2020, in the 400 block of West Madison Avenue.
Officials say 65-year-old Stanley Standifer went to the home earlier in the evening and got into a fight with several people there. Witnesses say a weapon was involved and Standifer fled the property. Law enforcement was unable to locate Standifer at the time.
Investigators say the occupants were awakened by a neighbor alerting them to a fire at the home hours later.
Standifer was then linked to the fire, which investigators say started in the bedroom area.
Standifer was arrested and booked on four counts of Attempted First Degree Murder as well as one count each of Aggravated Arson and Aggravated Battery.
