Monroe Salvation Army seeking supplies for clients at its facility

MONROE, La. (KNOE) - The Salvation Army location in Monroe is housing 56 clients as Louisianan residents are advised to shelter in place.

This has transformed the shelter into a 24/7 facility now serving 3 meals a day.

"I think we've got them off the streets in time," said Captain Jerry Casey.
"Our clients don't have a house. They don't have a home. This to some extent is their home. This is their safety net."

Captain Jerry Casey explains the need for food, supplies and monetary donations is great.

"I have a walk-in freezer. It's a 12 by 12 and it is literally empty," Casey said. "The shelves are literally empty on there. We'll make this happen, this is going to happen either way-with money, without money this is going to happen."

The organization is also in need of household supplies such as laundry detergent to wash the clients' clothes. Any food, supplies or monetary donations can be taken to 105 Hart St. or call (318) 325-1755.

"I think this is a great opportunity for the community and for the Salvation Army to show the love of Jesus and to move it forward."
