GULFPORT, Miss. (AP) - Ivanka Trump is traveling to Mississippi this week to discuss child care.
The Sun Herald reports that President Donald Trump's older daughter, who's a White House adviser, is scheduled to appear Thursday at Lynn Meadows Discovery Center in Gulfport.
The White House says an event will show "why high-quality, affordable child care is critical in order to have a strong and prosperous workforce." The gathering is sponsored by the Women's Bureau of the U.S. Labor Department, and Ivanka Trump will host the event with the bureau's director, Patti Greene.
A spokeswoman says Republican U.S. Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith will be at the event in her official capacity as a senator, not for a campaign appearance.
Hyde-Smith is endorsed by the president. She faces three challengers in a Nov. 6 special election.
