Today is National Shrimp Day. Shrimp is the most popular seafood among Americans, so dig in and don't scrimp on shrimp.

You can mark the day by cooking your favorite shrimp dish, or if you're really adventurous, enter a shrimp cocktail-eating contest.

Joey Chestnut holds the world record, downing 18 pounds and nine-point-six ounces of shrimp in a contest in Indianapolis in December.

He won the contest by just two shrimp. Chestnut has won the contest six years in a row.
