RICHLAND PARISH, La. (KNOE) - A Richland Parish inmate is back behind bars after being accused of knocking a guard unconscious and escaping Wednesday night.

Deputies say the Richardson Medical Center in Rayville was treating inmate Monteco Frost just after 10:00 p.m. Deputies say Frost was able to "overpower" his guard, rendering him unconscious. While the guard was out, they say Frost was able to get the keys and unlock his cuffs. Deputies say he then stole the prison's van.

Deputies accuse Frost of leading state police, Richland and Ouachita Parish Sheriff's Office on a chase to the Love Estates neighborhood in Monroe. There, they say he left the van and fled on foot.

After several hours, deputies found Frost at his mother's house in Love Estates. His mother, Quarnita S. Frost, is charged with Accessory After the Fact-Escape by the Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Monteco Frost is charged with Aggravated Flight from an Officer, Resisting Arrest by Flight along with numerous traffic violations by state police.

The Richland Parish Sheriff’s Office charged Frost with Aggravated Escape, 2nd Degree Battery of a Correctional Officer, and Theft of a Motor Vehicle.
