Hundreds of students absent at West Monroe HS over flu concerns
Hundreds of students have missed classes at West Monroe High School over the last two days.
According to Principal Shelby Ainsworth, it began Monday, Nov. 18, with around 400 students out sick because of the flu or flu-like symptoms.
Ainsworth says close to 500 students are out Tuesday.
He says some students have tested positive for the flu. An extra nurse has been brought in for testing.
As of Tuesday morning, there are no plans to cancel classes.
The 500 absentees make up nearly a quarter of the school's students.
Roughly 2,200 students attend West Monroe High School.
