Three people are dead after a two-car crash on LA Highway 3051 in Morehouse Parish.

Louisiana State Troopers began investigating the crash shortly before 6:00pm Friday evening.

The initial investigation by State Police revealed 37-year-old Jonathan Smith of Bastrop was driving a 1997 Chevrolet Monte Carlo north on LA Hwy 3051.

For reasons still under investigation, the vehicle crossed the center line into the southbound lane and collided with a 2016 Chevrolet Cruze, driven by 69-year-old James Tullos of Mer Rouge.

After impact, the Monte Carlo traveled off the road and into a ditch where it became engulfed in flames.

A toxicology sample was obtained and submitted for analysis. This crash remains under investigation.
