Phyllis Lewis: Golden Apple Award Winner, April 12, 2017

We're at Pine Grove Elementary in Morehouse parish and I have with me the cutest little thing I've ever seen, this happens to be Haley Palmerin, she's a kindergarten student here. And I understand that your teacher, Ms. Phyllis Lewis, you like her a lot, don't you? Yes, tell me why you like her. I like her because she's nice to me. She's nice to you and I understand from a letter Haley's Mama wrote that she makes all these kids feel very special and goes out of her way to do so. We want to honor her with the Hixson Ford Golden Apple Teacher of the Week. And I'm going to let Haley help me do that honor. You want to show me where the classroom is? Are you Miss Lewis? I am. Well guess what. Little Haley here and her mother have nominated you for the Golden Apple teacher of the week award. How are you feeling about that? I don't know. I'm about to cry like she is. You can give you her certificate. We want to give that you. We've also got some flowers for you. Her mother wrote a letter explaining how you go above and beyond with all of your kids. Not just Haley. So we want to say congratulations. Tell me a little bit about why you became a teacher? I just wanted to make a difference in a child's life. I know it was a calling to work with students but I didn't know what it was so the Lord just had me become a teacher. Well I know you're making a lasting impression on Haley and the others so on behalf of Hixson Ford, Mulhearn flowers and KNOE we say thank you.
