KNOE8 News Hi, we're here at River Oaks High school and I have with me Shari Vingiello and Shari has been out of high school for just a couple of years but it was your daughter that was so impacted by a teacher at this school. Tell me who that is and what she did for your daughter. Oh, I would love to. Her name is Marcia Gates. She teaches here at River Oaks. I'm not sure how many years but had my daughter two years and influenced her to the point where my child her achievement for her life, she wants to be like Mrs. Gates and help students do what she learned from Mrs. Gates. And that's what it's all about. Tell you what, let's go surprise her. I'm going to let you lead the way. Ok. Sounds great. Thank you. Hi Mrs. Gates. Oh my gosh! We have a surprise for you. Oh my goodness. Y'all caught me dancing. That's why we love you. Because of all of your wonderful skills in teaching and you meant to my daughter Alyssa, I nominated you for the Golden Apple Award. Oh how sweet! Thank you. You caught me dancing and gyrating around the room. But thank you so much. It's the sweetest thing in the world. We understand that you're one of those teachers that kinda ignites a spark in somebody and makes a lasting impression. How does that make you feel? It makes me feel like, I feel special. I really do. I feel means a lot. After 49 years of teaching. Well on behalf of Hixson Ford, Mulhearn flowers and KNOE, Congratulations to you. Thank y'all so much. And thank all of you! I'm Tammi Arender for KNOE 8 News.
