French criminal's daring helicopter escape

A notorious French criminal escaped from prison Sunday after several heavily armed men landed a helicopter in a courtyard, freed him from a visiting room, and then carried him away.

This was the second daring escape for Redoine Faid, who once blasted his way out of a different prison with explosives hidden in tissue packs.

This latest escape took only moments and the unarmed guards said they couldn't do anything to stop it.

Faid was serving time for the 2010 death of a young police officer during a botched robbery.

In the 1990's he led a gang that robbed banks and armored vans.
