Former Tech standout, Broncos WR Carlos Henderson arrested in West Monroe
Former Louisiana Tech standout Carlos Henderson was arrested for possession of a controlled substance Sunday afternoon following a traffic stop on I-20 in West Monroe.
According to a probable cause affidavit, Henderson - the Denver Broncos third-round pick in the 2017 NFL draft - was the passenger in a vehicle pulled over for speeding on Interstate 20 in West Monroe.
Upon approaching the vehicle, detectives with WMPD allegedly smelled marijuana coming from the vehicle, driven by Alejandra Aviles-Jimenez.
Officers allegedly recovered pieces of marijuana near the passenger seat, as well as a partially-filled water bottle with an extinguished marijuana cigar inside.
According to court documents, officers searched inside Henderson's mouth and found a "thick green residue" inside. In the documents, Henderson denied eating any marijuana before the traffic stop but did admit to smoking earlier Sunday.
Henderson was placed under arrest for first offense possession of marijuana and bonded out of jail less than an hour later.
