Five people steal golf carts, vandalize West Monroe HS

WEST MONROE, La. (KNOE) - West Monroe High School's resource officer says five male suspects trespassed on the school's campus on the night of September 22nd.

West Monroe police notified the resource officer that two golf carts owned by the police station were vandalized after the suspects scaled the fence of the school's campus.

Surveillance video shows them taking turns riding the golf carts and crashing them into the concrete walls of the school, the chain link fence, and into each other.

West Monroe High School administration said they recognized two of the suspects. One of those suspects is Dynell James.

Police say Dynell James, a student, admitted to trespassing on campus and "joyriding." Police say he admitted the golf carts were severely damaged from crashing them. They say James also had a small amount of marijuana in his school backpack.

He is charged with unauthorized entry of a place of business, simple criminal damage to property, and unauthorized use of a moveable. He was booked into Ouachita Correction Center with a bond of $750.
