A West Monroe man has been arrested after a fire extinguisher inspection led to the alleged discovery of child porn.

According to an arrest affidavit, employees at the Shadow Creek Apartments were collecting fire extinguishers for inspection on Friday, October 12th. When they reached the suspect's apartment, they went inside and found what appeared to be a slideshow of child pornography displayed on a computer in the living room.

The affidavit says West Monroe police were called and went to the apartment to confirm the existence of the images.

Police say the suspect, James Drew Taylor, was located at his place of employment, which is listed as 200 Basic Drive in West Monroe. He allegedly told police that he download the images from the internet.

He was booked into Ouachita Correctional Center on 10 counts of child pornography.

Tenants were notified by email three days prior to the inspections that they should put their fire extinguishers outside for collection. They were also notified that if the fire extinguishers were not outside, employees would have to go inside to get them.
