MONROE, La (KNOE) - The New Year is almost here, so it is a great time to get back on track financially and your money in order. Be sure to write down on paper the financial goals you wish to accomplish in the New Year. This will help keep you focused and motivated in developing a plan. Remember: A goal without a plan is simply a wish.

Write down your take-home pay and make a list of all of your monthly bills. This way you can see how much your bills are and how much money you have to pay the bills.

Brantley recommends that you always do a budget on paper, on purpose, before the month
begins giving every dollar a name. It is very important that you always spend your take-home pay for each paycheck on paper. Some of your dollars are named grocery and some dollars are named electric bill. Remember that numbers on paper equal reality!

Everyone can do a budget, it is income vs. outgo. I work with clients that bring home $2000 or $4000 per month and I have had a client whose take-home pay is $40,000 per month. Everyone needs a budget!! It is not about how much you make it is about what you spend and
