Arrest made in Ruston murder investigation

RUSTON, La. (KNOE) - The Ruston Police Department says an arrest has been made in a murder investigation.

The following information was sent to KNOE on Monday afternoon:

"At approximately 6:00 PM on July 12, 2019, Detectives with the Ruston Police Department arrested Price Jerome Jackson, 21 years of age, from Ruston and have charged him with Second Degree Murder. He is charged with the murder of Tyrea Davis on July 11, 2019. "

According to Ruston PD, at around 10:36 a.m Thursday morning, officers responded to the 600 block of Martin Luther King Avenue regarding a shooting.

Upon arrival, officers found a male victim suffering from at least one gunshot wound. The victim was transported to the Northern Louisiana Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

The victim is identified as 24-year-old Tyrea Davis. Police say Davis was living in Ruston but is originally from Bastrop.

Jackson is being held at the Lincoln Parish Detention Center.
