EAST CARROLL PARISH, La. (KNOE) East Carroll Parish officials are encouraging residents to be ready for the upcoming storm.
East Carroll Parish residents are encouraged to be prepared for dangerous weather.
Officials said residents should get rid of any debris in ditches near their houses. The parish has a history of drainage problems. Officials said clearing them could help prevent flooding.
The parish is offering sandbags at three different locations.
They can be found at 623 Schneider Ln, 3112 Highway 581, and 1490 Charles D. Jones Blvd.
The sandbags are already bagged and ready to be picked up. If any senior citizens need help picking up sandbags, they can call the Police Jury's office to have them delivered.
The Office of Emergency Preparedness encouraged residents to stay inside when the storm begins.
"Don't go into the flood. Don't drive into the flood. If they see the flood, turn around," said Helen Toney, East Carroll Parish Director of Emergency Preparedness.
Toney also encouraged residents to stay informed on the track of the storm and to make sure every member of the community was up to date.
