Cottonland Cluster dog show expecting a big showing Memorial Weekend

MONROE, La. (KNOE) - Bayou Kennel Club and Southeast Arkansas Kennel Club are putting on Cottonland Cluster Dog Show.

The dog show started Thursday morning, and runs through Sunday evening.

They are expecting to show more than 3,000 dogs at the Monroe Civic Center this Memorial Weekend.

Organizers say it's a fun, relaxing family event.

Now the number of dogs varies for each handler, but the end goal is the same: they want to win the championship for the breed they're showing.

Betty Claire Peacock of the Southeast Arkansas Kennel Club says, "We have families where everyone in the family has a dog they show, and then we have professional handlers who have strings of dogs that belong to clients and they might show 13 to 20 dogs in a day."

Tickets are $3 for kids and $6 for adults, and proceeds will be donated to the Ouachita Parish Sheriff's Office K-9 Unit.

The dog show runs from 6:30am to 8:00pm Saturday and Sunday.
