On Tuesday, Congressman Ralph Abraham visited the Northeast Louisiana Food Bank in Monroe. He said one and every five people go hungry in the community. He said he wants to change that, especially for the little ones.

"If a child is hungry, he or she is not going to learn. You gotta have a full belly before you worry about arithmetic and English," Abraham said.

He said a Farm Bill that passed the House last year is going up for revoting to provide more food to the bank.

"What I am told here is that this food bank receives about forty percent of its commodities from USDA, some less, some a little more," he said. "That will be a part of that farm bill, where these commodities can come to exactly where we need them the most."

He said the House expected for a revoting week after next.
