Jonesboro, La (KNOE) - Christmas Wonderland in the Pines begins the first Saturday after Thanksgiving. Visitors travel far and wide to see the Christmas lights sparkle in downtown Jonesboro. The event originated in 1978 when one store owner put Christmas lights on their store. The former Mayor Richard Zuber, fell in love with the Christmas lights and soon public works department began decorating the streets of downtown Jonesboro. Since 1978, there has been a grand marshal for the parade and Mayor James Bradford has continued this by adding even more lights and inviting people to come to Jonesboro to see over 10 million Christmas lights.
