WEST MONROE, La. (KNOE) - George Welch Elementary in Ouachita Parish will now house most students and educators displaced by Saturday's fire at Boley Elementary in West Monroe.
According to Ouachita Parish Schools Superintendent Dr. Don Coker, kindergarten through 5th-grade classes will be held at George Welch. Pre-K students will go to Crosley Elementary. Boley students will begin classes at their new schools on April 23.
George Welch Elementary is located just off of Forty Oaks Farm Road. Its address is 199 Caldwell Rd, West Monroe, LA, 71291.
Crosley Elementary is located near Antique Alley and First West Church in West Monroe. Its address is 700 Natchitoches St, West Monroe, LA 71291
A letter sent to parents and dated April 15, 2019, says, "While we are working hard for a smooth transition, we know there may be some hiccups and we will deal with any situations that arise."

Boley Elementary in West Monroe was destroyed by a fire on April 13, 2019. Over 200 students were displaced by the fire. Boley Elementary stood for 68 years.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Investigators say they're looking at the possibility that the fire was caused by a lightning strike or natural/accidental cause.
