Caught on Video: UPSO investigating incident outside gas station

UNION PARISH, La. (KNOE) - The Union Parish Sheriff’s office is investigating an early Saturday morning incident between a UPSO deputy and a woman outside a gas station.

Video of the incident was posted on Facebook outside the Super Save gas station in Farmerville.

It appears to show two women swinging at each other, and a deputy slamming one of the women to the ground. The woman identified herself to KNOE as 21-year-old Leania Singleton. We talked to her mother, who says she's still in disbelief. She says no mother should have to witness what she saw happened to her daughter.

"Somebody showed me the video and I looked at it and the guy actually picked her up over his head and body slammed her. My child don't weigh nothing but a buck five if that and she just had a baby in March. It's pissing me off because nobody's child should go through that. Nobody," said Yolanda Singleton.

Union Parish Sheriff Dusty Gates released a statement about the incident. He says, “We are currently investigating the whole incident and not just the videos that have surfaced. A news release will be forthcoming as we review all the facts.”
