Motel raid: Monroe Police arrest suspect connected to gang activity

MONROE, La. (KNOE) - Update: KNOE 8 News has learned a suspect arrested in this incident at the Monroe Super 8 Motel is one of six subjects police issued warrants for earlier this week in regard to alleged gang activity.

The warrants were issued in response to what police called the "South Third Gang," and drug activity happening at a property on that street.

Willie Cobbs is identified as the suspect who was taken into custody at the motel Wednesday. Police also received an anonymous tip which led them to believe another suspect in the case was at the motel. That's when they surrounded the building, broke down a door and found the room empty. No shots were fired and no one was injured.
