Bicyclist killed in Jackson Parish

Authorities are investigating a crash that ended with the death of a bicyclist in Jackson Parish.
According to Louisiana State Police, the crash happened around 7:20 PM on Louisiana Highway 548. Police say 53-year-old Clint Caraway, of Eros, was riding on the roadway when someone drove up behind him and hit the back of his bicycle. Police say Caraway was killed after being thrown from bicycle into a nearby ditch. Investigators say Caraway was wearing a helmet at the time.
Police say the driver was not impaired at the time of the crash, though the setting sun could have contributed to the accident. Caraway's blood will also be tested. The investigation is ongoing.
This makes the 26th traffic death this year Troop F has investigated, police say. Troop F patrols the highways of northeast Louisiana.
