MOREHOUSE PARISH, La. (KNOE) - The Louisiana Office of State Fire Marshal has arrested a 17-year-old from Bastrop in connection with a fire at Bastrop High School back in October of 2017.

Marquarious Williams was booked into the Morehouse Parish Jail on June 20th after he was arrested as a fugitive in McKinney, Texas on June 11th. He faces a charge of Aggravated Arson.

Back on October 19th, the boys’ bathroom in the cafeteria building of the school campus was set on fire. Investigators found several combustibles on fire in the room including toilet paper, a sweatshirt and a mop. The building had been occupied by an after-school tutoring class at the time of the fire.

Witness statements and school surveillance video led Williams, a student, to be identified as the person who set the fire. Shortly after a warrant was obtained for Williams’ arrest, he fled the area. However, a traffic stop in McKinney led to the discovery of the warrant and his eventual arrest.
