OUACHITA PARISH, La. (KNOE) - Ouachita Parish Police Juror Anna Reed is set to resign from her post.

OPPJ President Shane Smiley confirms that Reed will resign from the police jury after she discovered she lives in the wrong district. Reed determined she lives in District D.

Reed was sworn in to serve District F in an interim capacity in May. Reed replaced former Juror Pat Moore after she won the District 17 House of Representative seat in March.

Reed was one of three potential candidates presented to the Jury from Moore to fill her vacant seat.

Smiley says that since Reed lives in a different district, state law prohibits her from continuing to serve in that capacity.

The police jury will appoint a new interim once her resignation is accepted by the Louisiana Secretary of State. OPPJ will then have 20 days to appoint an interim juror once they receive the formal notice from the state.

The next term for OPPJ members start in January. Elections are scheduled for this fall.
