They say people can bring paper, plastic, metal, electronics, and tires to be recycled.

Stuart Hodnett from Ouachita Green says recycling these items can help reduce little and keep trash out of our landfills. Hodnett believes everyone can recycle.

"Because when a family starts to recycle like my family just did, you can cut down your garbage, waste or trash by about 75 percent, which is huge,” Hodnett explains. “So when you start that, you'll say 'well most of the items I throw away are recyclable items."

He says people can bring things like old phone chargers, fridges, and washers. He says it’s important to bring in these more hazardous materials.

"As you're throwing electronics away, you have different items or heavy metals that leak into the ground into our aquifers and into our groundwater,” he says. “We want to keep that clean. We want to keep not only our waterways clean at the surface but also our groundwater."

America Recycles Day will also have onsite paper shredding for all important documents. Hodnett assures people that the paper will also be recycled.

There will also be an additional bin at the Civic Center for all canned goods. The food collected will help the Food Bank of Northeast Louisiana during Thanksgiving.
