In an effort to increase voter turnout statewide, the NAACP La. State Conference has contracted Uber to give voters a free ride to the polls.

Uber drivers like Cindy Ingram in Monroe say that this initiative is a good thing and she’s happy to be a part of it.

“It should make a difference with people getting out to vote. That’s usually the hardest part is getting to the polls themselves,” Ingram said.

Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 16.
