Alleged gun at West Monroe / Neville football game causes scare

WEST MONROE, La. (KNOE) - Arrests were made at the West Monroe / Neville game Friday night. The game was being played at West Monroe High School.

West Monroe Police say three juveniles were arrested for possession of a firearm on school grounds.

West Monroe police say they got word of a juvenile with a gun and found that person. The juvenile said he’d passed the gun to another person, who passed it to another.

Parents who were at the game same they're glad no one was hurt.

"Luckily they kept it contains because it could have been a riot more or less getting out of there. People would have been hurt, just running," Chad and Tonya Clowers said.

They said they had initially gotten word that threats were being made about a shooting on campus in the fourth quarter, but through their questioning, they were unable to substantiate those claims.

All three were arrested in minutes. The three kids are young teenagers and were booked into Green Oaks Detention Center. Police said the 22-revolver was not stolen, but the original teen said he got it from another man.

"The students coming forward to let us know something was wrong that all played a key part in everyone working together in making sure everyone went home safe last night," Sgt. CJ Beck, with West Monroe Police, said.

Nobody was hurt during the incident.
