2nd person dies in Winn Parish deputy-involved shooting
Louisiana State Police say a second person has died following an April 11 gunfight with sheriff's deputies in Winn Parish.
LSP said Saturday that 50-year-old Kendall Lemoine died Friday night at the Rapides Regional Trauma Center in Alexandria.
State police said Winn Parish deputies went to Lemoine's home to serve a civil warrant, when they were allegedly met by Lemoine and his 71-year-old mother Betty.
LSP said the Lemoines were armed and exchanged fire with deputies. Betty Lemoine died at the scene.
State police interviewed Sheriff Cranford Jordan and another deputy after the shooting. Sources tell KNOE that Jordan was the one who fired the shots.
At time of publication, nobody from the sheriff's office is on administrative leave. Sheriff Jordan said there are too few deputies to place anyone on administrative leave.
LSP has not confirmed that Jordan was the shooter. They said the shooting remains under investigation and that no other details were being released.
