DODSON, La. (KNOE) - UPDATE: A suspect in the shooting that happened Wednesday morning has been captured and the lockdown of Dodson High School has ended, according to Winn Parish Schools Superintendent Steve Bartlett.
The shooting happened near Dodson High School. The school was placed on lockdown “in abundance of caution.” The lockdown ended about 1:00 p.m. according to the superintendent. The school day will continue as normal.
The shooting happened sometime before 6 a.m. Wednesday morning in Dodson. A witness tells KNOE that he heard two gunshots around 5:30-5:35 a.m. in the 100 block of Boundary St. The witness told us he heard screaming and then trucks trying to pull away.
According to Winn Parish authorities, the suspect was identified as 30-year-old Justin Burnett, of Sikes.
Authorities say two people were shot. They were transported to the hospital for medical treatment and were last listed in critical condition. A weapon was recovered at the scene, authorities say.
The victims have been identified as:
*39-year-old Christopher Sessions of Jonesboro
*65-year-old Roger Gregory of Farmerville
Multiple agencies worked to capture the suspect.
