18-wheeler involved in crash on railroad track in Monroe

MONROE, La. (KNOE) - First responders worked a crash involving an 18-wheeler on Highway 165 and Centurylink Drive Thursday afternoon.

According to Monroe PD, it happened around 1:30 p.m. They say an 18-wheeler and a light colored Ford Taurus were southbound on Hwy 165 approaching Centurylink Dr. when the traffic light turned red requiring traffic to stop. The 18-wheeler couldn’t stop in time and maneuvered off of the road to avoid rear ending the Ford Taurus.

Police say the 18-wheeler crashed into the rear of Ford Taurus causing damage. The 18-wheeler continued off road where it over turned on the railroad tracks. One passenger in the Ford Taurus was treated at a local hospital for non life threatening injuries.

All lanes have re-opened. The investigation is ongoing.
