Feed Your Soul: 2Dudes Brew and Que

MONROE, La (KNOE) For Dan and Angie Bryan, who are from northeast Louisiana but now live in south Louisiana, it’s a treat to get some barbeque with all the fixings.

“We don’t get good barbeque down there but this really good!” said Dan Bryan.

Those words are what the 2 Dudes want to hear. Because it means that this venture, that started in their backyards just chilling and grilling with friends, was the right move.

“It was backyards friends, family and small church gatherings and things like that and it turned into a career,” said Kevin “Kevo” Meredith, co-owner of 2Dudes Brew and Que.

Kevin Meredith, a heavy rigging and crane operator, along with Chris Brown who works in Finance, have no culinary background. The closest they come to that is when Brown worked at a local appliance store in college and was trained on how to use this--the Big Green Egg.

So backyard barbeques turned into a catering business, which turned into a food truck and now this: A downtown establishment on DeSiard Street, where people ooh and ahh over the baked beans and brisket.
Doug Sevier’s favorite: Brisket Nachos.

“The jalapenos on it and the shredded cheese make it complete. But honestly, anything you get here is going to be fantastic. The smoked meatloaf is like nothing you’ve ever tried before and nobody else has anything like it,” said Doug Sevier, 2Dudes Brew and Que customer.

That meatloaf has become one of their signature dishes. Meredith says it was a spinoff of his wife’s meatloaf recipe.

“I got up in the middle of the night put together a meatloaf like she would make it added a few little things, put it on the smoker and it turned out horrible and I threw it away. Well, forget that idea. I tried it again the next day and it’s the recipe here today,” said Meredith.
The 2 Dudes say this is still a lot like those backyard get-togethers. Just on a larger scale.

“We designed this place knowing that we wanted it to be a part of that community where you felt like you’re an individual who matters when you walk in the door,” said Brown.

2Dudes Brew and Que is open every day but Tuesday. You can find their Facebook page here.
