Nydja Hood is a Multimedia Journalist for KNOE 8 News.
Nydja joined the KNOE 8 News team in January 2020. She was born and raised in Long Island, NY, and is excited to experience all that Northeast Louisiana has to offer, covering the stories of its local communities.
She hit the ground running here at KNOE by immersing herself into covering the stories of the community. She's covered the Monroe NAACP's call for police reform in wake of nationwide civil unrest, severe storm coverage, and the impact of the coronavirus pandemic throughout Northeast Louisiana.
Nydja is a news junkie and passionate storyteller! Prior to joining us at KNOE, she worked as a Desk Assistant at the #1 local news station in the country, WABC-TV in New York City. She also interned at WPVI-TV, the ABC affiliate of Philadelphia, PA., where she worked on the lifestyle show “FYI Philly”.
She is a proud alumna of Temple University (Go Owls!), where she received her Bachelor of Arts in journalism. While at Temple, she launched and executive produced the school’s first ever Emmy-nominated music and hip hop culture talk show, “The Vibe at Temple”. She also reported for Temple Update, the school’s award-winning campus news program, and served as Vice President of the Temple Association of Black Journalists. Nydja is a proud member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Incorporated, and the National Association of Black Journalists.
She is a big foodie and is currently on a quest to find the best crawfish in town! Nydja is proud to tell the stories of the people of NELA, and is grateful they have embraced her into the community with open arms. Connect with her on Twitter and Facebook!
