Nydja Hood

Monroe, La.

Nydja Hood joined the KNOE 8 News team in January 2020. She was born and raised on Long Island, NY, and is excited to experience all that Northeast Louisiana has to offer, covering the stories of its local communities.

Nydja is a news junkie through and through! Prior to joining us at KNOE, she worked as a Desk Assistant at the #1 local news station in the country, WABC-TV in New York City. She also interned at WPVI-TV, the ABC affiliate of Philadelphia, Pa, where she worked on the lifestyle show “FYI Philly”.

She is a proud alumna of Temple University (Go Owls!), where she received her Bachelor of Arts in journalism. While at Temple, she launched and executive produced the school’s first ever Emmy nominated music and hip hop culture talk show, “The Vibe at Temple”. She also reported for Temple Update, the school’s award winning campus news program, and served as Vice President of the Temple Association of Black Journalists. Nydja is a proud member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Incorporated, and the National Association of Black Journalists.

A big foodie and art lover at heart, you can catch Nydja trying out a new dish or checking out the next upcoming music artist in concert! She is eager to call Monroe her new home, and can’t wait to meet all of its people!"
