Akim Powell is a Digital Content Producer for WLOX News. He's a coast native, having grown up in Long Beach. In May 2020, Akim graduated from the University of Mississippi with a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism with an emphasis in print. During his time at Ole Miss, Akim was an intern for Hotty Toddy News, Lens Collective, and Editor-In-Chief of the Ole Miss Odyssey.
When he’s not writing breaking news stories, Akim likes to write digital exclusive stories tackling social issues, entertainment and spotlighting public figures in the community. He also has a knack for design where he regularly creates social graphics.
