20-year-old arrested after firing shots at Bastrop hotel, injuring toddler

BASTROP, La. (KNOE) - A 20-year-old is in custody after shooting a toddler.
On June 21 around 3:49 p.m., the Bastrop Police Department responded to a shooting at Preferred Inn & Suites on East Madison Avenue.
When officers arrived they found that numerous AR-15 rounds had been fired into Room 302, hitting a three-year-old.
The toddler was taken to Morehouse General Hospital by officers. BPD said the child is doing well.
Bastrop authorities said Captain Gerald Givens and Detective Libby Brixey were able to identify Jamon Tippie as the shooter by using video and forensic evidence.
On June 26, Tippie was arrested and charged with eight counts of attempted murder.
