WEST MONROE, La. (KNOE) - River Oaks School in Monroe raised money and collected donations for the family of one of its students after a lightning strike struck their home in the Sterlington area.

According to a Facebook post on July 7, one of their students and his family sustained damage to their home when a lightning strike caused damage. The family was forced to live in a hotel until the repairs could be made.

“We want them to know that we’re concerned. We will help in any way. We’re just not all about academics and athletics. We’re also concerned about the child, the home, and the family,” said Ja-Nell Tillman, Headmaster and Elementary Principal of River Oaks School.
